1933 Wisden Hardback – Special

£475.00 £380.00

This is a Very Good+ condition 1933 Wisden Hardback edition. The 70th edition.

This edition comes from the Diana Rait Kerr collection. Rowan Scrope Rait Kerr was the MCC Secretary from 1936 to 1952. His daughter Diana joined him at Lord’s after WW2 to help catalogue and arrange the MCC library. She eventually became Curator of the MCC museum. During her work at Lord’s she also wrote extensively for cricket publications and co-wrote books with Ian Peebles. She was also one of the first women to be offered MCC membership.
She inherited her fathers’ Wisden collection and also built her own.

The boards are strong, the corners have some minor bumping and at the foot of the front board/spine edge there is some scuffing. Overall, the boards are in very good+ condition – it has to be remembered that this is a 90-year-old book. The gilt to the front is strong and bright, the spine gilt has dulled.

Internally,  the inside front and rear yellow paste down pages are in lovely condition and the hinges are also splendid. The pages within are  bright and clean, with no noticeable ageing.

The page block is , for a 90-year-old edition, very very good.
