1898 Wisden Rebound Paperback – Interesting Inside Page

This is a SUPER condition 1898 Rebound Paperback Wisden. The 35th edition.

The boards on this edition are in excellent condition, they are blank to the front, year and ‘Wisden’ to the spine.

Both the original front and rear wrappers are present and they are in super+ condition – each with hardly any ageing.

Internally the condition the pages is splendid, as is the photo-plate and the facing tissue guard.

The page block is also in lovely condition.

Historically certain dealers would put their reference code and a price in pencil on an inside page, this edition has such on an otherwise blank first right-hand page, it gives the price of this 1898 rebound paperback as £1000. I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or be annoyed, at no stage has an original 1898 paperback been £1000, maybe the dealer thought this was an original hardback….if that was the case I do not think he should have been dealing in Wisdens.
