1895 Wisden Paperback – Special

£525.00 £420.00

This is a Very Very Good condition 1895 Paperback Wisden. The 32nd edition.

This edition comes from the Diana Rait Kerr collection. Rowan Scrope Rait Kerr was the MCC Secretary from 1936 to 1952. His daughter Diana joined him at Lord’s after WW2 to help catalogue and arrange the MCC library. She eventually became Curator of the MCC museum. During her work at Lord’s she also wrote extensively for cricket publications and co-wrote books with Ian Peebles. She was also one of the first women to be offered MCC membership.
She inherited her fathers’ Wisden collection and also built her own.

The original front and rear pages are in lovely condition, they are bright and clean – with some light ageing to the outside edges and two crease marks to the left (these can be seen on the photograph). The spine has at some stage been professionally strengthened and it is very strong, it is darker than the covers.

Internally the inside front and inside rear hinges are lovely. The pages within are in very very good condition. The photo-plate is splendid, as is the facing tissue guard.

The page block is very good,, typically and owing to age it is a little dusty on the top.

Throwing in First-Class Cricket.
