One of the most desirable of all Wisdens. In 1948 the Australians toured and the tour became the single most successful tour of all time, by any nation. The team became known as ‘The Invincibles”- of 34 matches played, they won 25 and drew 9. Seven Australian players scored 1,000+ runs on the tour, Bradman scored 2428 and Morris 1,922. Two bowlers, Johnston and Johnson took over 200 wickets each and four other bowlers 100+ wickets each. The tour was a resounding success and in the Test series England played a very very good England team.

This edition comes with a Wisdenworld produced dust jacket, published under license from John Wisden & Co, the jacket has the ‘woodcutters’ image upon the front along with a synopsis of the contents.

The front and back boards are in good condition, the gilt is strong a, there is ageing to the front and also on the spine board. The gilt on the front is very very good, the spine gilt has dulled.

Internally the hinge to the front is very good, the rear hinge is tight to its opposite page and the rest of the pages are in very good condition.

There is some ageing upon the first few internal pages.

The page block is dusty.
