1965 Wisden Hardback

£48.00 £38.40

This is a Good+ condition 1965 Hardback. The 102nd edition.

The  dust jacket on this 1965 hardback is a colour replica of the original, made under license from John Wisden & Co by Wisdenworld – it is pristine.

The 1965 was the first Wisden to be published with a yellow dust jacket – collectors did not warm to the dust jacket and it is known that the editor received over 500 letters containing ‘cut up’ jackets. Traditionalists who wanted the almanack without a jacket were disappointed as the jackets have continued ever since. The editor received over a hundred letters once the 1966 was printed asking if there were any ‘spare’ 1965 jackets remaining, there were none.
Pressure from retailers encouraged the publishers to place a jacket around the almanack.

The boards within are in good+ condition,  they are a little marked and have slight ageing – the pages within are very good.. The page block is a little dusty.
