1927 Wisden Hardback – UNIUE Edition

Thank you for looking at this Very Very Good condition 1927 Wisden Hardback edition. The sixty fourth almanack.

This edition comes from the Diana Rait Kerr collection. Rowan Scrope Rait Kerr was the MCC Secretary from 1936 to 1952. His daughter Diana joined him at Lord’s after WW2 to help catalogue and arrange the MCC library. She eventually became Curator of the MCC museum. During her work at Lord’s she also wrote extensively for cricket publications and co-wrote books with Ian Peebles. She was also one of the first women to be offered MCC membership.
She inherited her fathers’ Wisden collection and also built her own.

The boards on this 1927 hardback are strong, they are a little aged and have some rubbing and scuffing to the outside edges and corners – but nothing drastic, just general wear. The gilt to both the front and the spine is excellent. The spine board is strong, and it is untypical for this year, as it is not wrinkly or creased – it is lovely.

Internally the front and rear hinges are splendid and the paste-down pages are also super – bright and clean – the pages within are in lovely condition.

The page block is a little dusty and aged.
