1965 Wisden Hardback – Very Good Condition

£58.00 £40.60

This is a Very Good condition 1965 Hardback. The 102nd edition.

The  dust jacket on this 1965 hardback is an original. It is bright, there are light marks to the front and the rear and the spine is a little dusty and it has a very light stain to the foot. The jacket has been housed in a completely removable transparent cover.

The 1965 was the first Wisden to be published with a yellow dust jacket – collectors did not warm to the dust jacket and it is known that the editor received over 500 letters containing ‘cut up’ jackets. Traditionalists who wanted the almanack without a jacket were disappointed as the jackets have continued ever since. The editor received over a hundred letters once the 1966 was printed asking if there were any ‘spare’ 1965 jackets remaining, there were none.
Pressure from retailers encouraged the publishers to place a jacket around the almanack.

The boards within are in Lovely condition – the pages within are also in lovely condition.

The page block has some ageing to the top, very very good to the side.
