1892 Wisden Rebound Paperback – Super

This is a Super condition 1892 Rebound Paperback Wisden. The 29th edition.

It is becoming a theme when I am writing the descriptions for the early Wisdens to re-iterate how scarce they are becoming and I do not apologise for this.  It is a simple fact that more collectors are coming into the market and the rarer editions are becoming more difficult to find, especially in Very Very Good or better condition – this edition is in super condition.

The boards on this rebound edition are excellent – they look like the boards used on original hardback Wisdens from 1896 with the year at the top, title to the middle and company address to the foot. The original front and rear wrappers are present  and they are in splendid condition.

Something rather quaint – on the inside front cover (normally a blank page) a previous owner has handwritten in pencil what I believe are his/her requirements up to 1954. This can be erased by the next owner, but I believe it looks rather lovely. On the otherwise blank page opposite there is a name.

Internally the pages are in excellent condition, the trim is very healthy and the photo-plate and facing tissue guard are lovely, with just some minor ageing around the edges.

The page block is also, quite lovely.
