1923 Wisden Hardback – Unique and Very Good+ Condition
£550.00 £385.00
A Very Good+ Condition 1923 Wisden Hardback. The sixtieth edition.
This edition comes from the Diana Rait Kerr collection. Rowan Scrope Rait Kerr was the MCC Secretary from 1936 to 1952. His daughter Diana joined him at Lord’s after WW2 to help catalogue and arrange the MCC library. She eventually became Curator of the MCC museum. During her work at Lord’s she also wrote extensively for cricket publications and co-wrote books with Ian Peebles. She was also one of the first women to be offered MCC membership.
She inherited her fathers’ Wisden collection and also built her own.
The front and rear boards are in very good condition. They are strong, with a little bumping to the top corners. The gilt to the front is super. The spine board isn very very good, again strong and firm. The gilt to the spine is also super – the photograph shows a small ‘mark’ on the spine, this is rather minor.
Internally, the hinges to the front and to the rear are super. The paste-down pages to the front are super, there is ageing and a little dustiness on the rear paste-down pages. The contents within are very very good..
The page block is aged and dusty, overall good.
Contents Include:
Lord Harris and Umpire’s Decisions.
Bibliography of Cricket by AJ Gaston.
JT Tyldesley and D Denton in the Cricket Field.
Hendren at Lord’s Since the War.
Notes by the Editor.
