1939 Wisden Hardback – UNIQUE
£700.00 £560.00
This is a Lovely condition 1939 Wisden Hardback. The 76th edition.
This edition comes from the Diana Rait Kerr collection. Rowan Scrope Rait Kerr was the MCC Secretary from 1936 to 1952. His daughter Diana joined him at Lord’s after WW2 to help catalogue and arrange the MCC library. She eventually became Curator of the MCC museum. During her work at Lord’s she also wrote extensively for cricket publications and co-wrote books with Ian Peebles. She was also one of the first women to be offered MCC membership.
She inherited her fathers’ Wisden collection and also built her own.
The front and the rear boards are in Lovely condition – strong boards with only very minor bumping of note. The spine is strong and firm. The gilt to the front is very good, slightly dull and the spine gilt is similar. The strength and quality of the boards outweighs the dulling of the gilt.
Internally the front and rear hinges are in super condition and the pages within this edition are also in super condition
The page block is very good, a little dusty.
