1965 Wisden Hardback
£70.00 £49.00
This is a Very Good+ condition 1965 Hardback. The 102nd edition.
This 1965 comes complete with its original dust jacket which is in Very Good+ condition.
The 1965 was the first Wisden to be published with a yellow dust jacket – collectors did not warm to the dust jacket and it is known that the editor received over 500 letters containing ‘cut up’ jackets. Traditionalists who wanted the almanack without a jacket were disappointed as the jackets have continued ever since. The editor received over a hundred letters once the 1966 was printed asking if there were any ‘spare’ 1965 jackets remaining, there were none.
Pressure from retailers encouraged the publishers to place a jacket around the almanack.
The dust jacket is bright and clean to the front and the rear. The spine of the jacket is in very good+ condition, it is a little darker than the covers.
The jacket has been housed in a completely removable transparent cover.
The boards within are very very good as are the pages. The page block is very very good.
